Fox & Thistle Studio Fortnight Calendar header banner for the Liminal almanac, rainbow gradient with fox and thistle wreath mascot, dragonfly flying over color spectrum logo, lunar phases, and fortnightly date grid showing dates with moon symbols and seasonal markers
by Richard W. Saunders

The Liminal is a creative almanac that weaves together seasonal observations, design work, vintage histories, poetry, recipes, upcycling, and more. Part historical almanac, part digital zine, part studio newsletter—the Liminal is a creative practice that follows the seasons through our studio’s yearly Fortnight Calendar. It is published with each new moon.

*The Liminal is North American-centric (because that is where I live!)

Verses section banner for the Liminal almanac: cream background that reads "Our poetry oscillates somewhere between effort and indulgence, awareness and denial—the attainables and the not-so's."   On the bottom half of the banner is a dark blue panel graphic with vintage tools, rake, easel, scissors, clock, dictionary, arranged to spell the phrase "Master of None". Posed as a question before the graphic: "What if practice isn't depth in one thing, but relation across many?"

    THE FORTNIGHT CALENDAR CONNECTION:

The Liminal is published in concert with our Fortnight Calendar—a lunar-based calendar system that reimagines how we track time. The calendar maps the year through two-week intervals.

Notice how the moon gracefully drifts across the sky in this structure. You can almost sense the earth’s tilted course through the seasons. Can you feel the year beginning to breathe?

Fox & Thistle 'Warm Arc' 2026 Fortnight Calendar: rainbow gradient border, fox mascot with thistle, lunar phases, moon markers, solstices, equinoxes, eclipses, meteor showers, and fortnightly date grid with seasonal color shifts. Full calendar for 2026 with a key on how to use it at the bottom.

Useful for gardening, stargazing, creative pursuits, lesson planning, travel, and anyone interested in slow living, the calendar is a temporal spine; the almanac is a narrative pulse.

Together, they offer a framework for anyone curious about living in sync with an older rhythm that’s perhaps been gone, if not quite forgotten.

The calendar is free to download for any and all who might get some good use out of it. Feel free to print it, write on it, and share it!

It is also for sale as a 24”x 36” poster size on mat paper, with more room for taking notes.

ABOUT FOX & THISTLE STUDIO:

The Liminal is produced by Richard W. Saunders through Fox & Thistle Studio in Virginia—a creative practice blending graphic design, vintage curation, furniture upcycling, and writing. The publication itself acts as an accountability engine—
researching content, sourcing vintage and materials for upcycling, building webpages, and making art—all become possible because of the public facing nature of this project.

“The Fortnight Calendar offers something different — a softer, more organic rhythm that invites us to slow down and reconnect with the cycles of light, lunar phases, and seasonal changes that have guided human life for millennia.” — The Paper Nerd
